Gegründet von Claudia Jahns vor über einem Jahrzehnt, ist Aloka mehr als nur ein Bildungsprojekt - es ist eine Bewegung, die Familien in Sri Lanka vor Ort unterstützt und eine bessere Zukunft für Kinder und Jugendliche schafft. Durch Programme wie Kindergärten, Nachmittagsbetreuung und Lehrwerkstätten bietet Aloka nicht nur Bildung, sondern auch Unterstützung für Kinder, Frauen und alleinerziehende Mütter.
During their stay, they not only experienced the hospitality of The Calm Palm but also learned about the inspiring story behind the Aloka Project. Founded by Claudia Jahns over a decade ago, Aloka is more than just an educational project—it's a movement that supports local families in Sri Lanka and creates a better future for children and teenagers. Through programs such as kindergartens, after-school care, and workshops, Aloka provides not only education but also support for children, women, and single mothers.

The team learned that Aloka is funded solely through private donations, allowing them to run projects autonomously and independently. The patronage of Honorary Consul Edith Hornig, along with the support from organizations like the Club Graz Rubin of Soroptimist International, contributes to Aloka's success. On-site, they experienced the warmth and dedication of the Aloka team, led by Claudia Jahns and Anita Schwab, as well as the tireless efforts of Local Coordinator Piyal Susantha - Sasantha Priyal.
Besonders beeindruckend war die Möglichkeit für Besucher, persönliche Bindungen zu ihren Patenkindern aufzubauen und die Projekte vor Ort zu besuchen. Das Besser Reisen-Team war inspiriert von der Leidenschaft und dem Engagement, das sie bei Aloka erlebten, und beschloss, ihre Geschichte mit der Welt zu teilen. Sie planten, eine neue Folge ihrer Sendung zu produzieren, die nicht nur die Schönheit Sri Lankas zeigt, sondern auch die transformative Kraft von Projekten wie Aloka hervorhebt.
Zurück im The Calm Palm, setzten sie ihre Reise fort, um auch andere Aspekte Sri Lankas zu erkunden. Dabei boten sie ihren Zuschauern einen Einblick in die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten des Landes, von Ayurveda-Heilkunst bis hin zu atemberaubenden Landschaften und kulturellen Schätzen. Back at The Calm Palm, they continued their journey to explore other aspects of Sri Lanka. In doing so, they provided their viewers with insight into the country's diverse offerings, from Ayurvedic healing arts to breathtaking landscapes and cultural treasures. Through their travels, they aimed not only to inform but also to inspire—to encourage others to explore the world and make a positive difference, whether through travel or supporting projects like Aloka.
